Forney Museum Volunteer Awards 2013

April 13, 2014 9:34 PM

Once again we had the opportunity to design and fabricate the Forney Museum Volunteer Awards. 2013 was one of the most successful years for the Forney Museum. Given the increase in attendance, they needed even more help from the volunteers. With over 11,000 total hours of volunteer time it is safe to say that their volunteers came through.

The design was inspired by the Union Pacific Railroad logo, found on the front of the Forney’s #4005 Big Boy Locomotive. The construction is steel and acrylic. We had the emblem and base laser cut, then we welded everything together. The finish is a black patina. We also laser cut and engraved the acrylic insert with the recipients information- for privacy we photo-shopped their names out in the images below. The upper portion was assembled using aluminum or brass hardware. The brass hardware was reserved for the Lifetime Achievement Awards. We made 23 awards total.
